3 Direction Board Breaking Rules

Competitors may register for Three Direction Breaking competition:

  • A three-direction break consists of performing breaks in three directions (e.g., three sides of a box). One hand technique and two kicking techniques must be used.
  • Minimum Number of Boards By Age:
    Three Direction Breaking – Ages 9 years and under: 1 small board in each direction minimum, ages 10 – 14 years: 1 medium board in each direction minimum, ages 15 years and up: 1 large board in each direction minimum

Rules for Breaking:

  • Competitors must use at least the minimum number of boards as defined by their age.
  • Competitors must provide their own board holders.
  • 3 holders for the Three Direction Breaking will be allowed on the competition floor to sit with competitor while competitor awaits their turn.
  • Competitors and holders must clean up all broken boards and wood fragments.
  • No props such as chairs, trampolines, tables, etc. may be used.
  • A Three Direction Break must include one hand technique and two kicking techniques.
  • Board breaking competition shall be judged based on accuracy, quality of content, # of attempts, and showmanship. The highest overall score will determine winner. Must do a three-station board breaking consisting of 1 hand technique and 2-foot technique.
  • Boards must be purchased at the tournament. Under no circumstance will competitors be allowed to use their own boards. Price per board – Small: $2, Medium: $3, Large: $5. Please do your best to bring the exact change in cash.

Awards – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be awarded a medal
